Sonia graduated from Cuba’s National Ballet School under Ramona de Saa Bello and Josefina Mendez. She enjoyed a 16-year career as a soloist dancer and has over 30 years’ experience as a choreographer, director, and ballet teacher. Sonia holds a Master of Education (Advanced Management Education), a Master’s in Classical Dance, a degree in Dance (Teaching Classical Dance), and the title of Dance Professor from the University of Carabobo.

As Owner and Director of Nueva Era del Ballet for 21 years, she has led international performances, festivals, and competitions in 14 countries, including Scotland, South Africa, Brazil, and Russia. An award-winning soloist, her students have won over 20 international medals and numerous national honours. She has been recognised by Cuba’s National Ballet School and involved in its International Ballet School Meetings and Competitions for over 20 years.
