Lachlan Monaghan was born in Sydney, Australia, and trained at The McDonald College before completing his training at The Royal Ballet School in London. He joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2012 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2023.

His notable roles include Basilio (Don Quixote), Prince Siegfried (Swan Lake), Prince Florimund (The Sleeping Beauty), the Prince (The Nutcracker), Romeo (Romeo and Juliet), Will Mossop (Hobson’s Choice), Colas (La Fille mal Gardée), and the Prince in Cinderella.

Alongside his dance career, Lachlan is a keen photographer, specialising in behind-the-scenes ballet imagery, and is currently completing a BA (Hons) in Business Management.
